Dale Wolf has made difference in business and state government

Over the years, Dale Wolf has attended a number of Delaware State Chamber of Commerce annual dinners -- a must for most business executives, state government officials and community leaders. Dale Wolf is all of these and more.

Last night's 168th annual event at the Bank One Center on the Riverfront certainly had to qualify as the best because Dale Wolf was presented the Josiah Marvel Cup Award for his outstanding contributions in the state. The award is the chamber's highest honor.

Mr. Wolf had a long and distinguished career at the DuPont Co. He became board chairman of the company's pharmaceutical business, and group vice president of the agricultural business. He left DuPont in 1987 to become economic development director for Gov. Michael Castle. The next year he ran successfully for lieutenant governor with Gov. Castle.

Since leaving office, Mr. Wolf has been active in business ventures here and abroad and in community and charitable organizations too numerous to list. He currently is chairman of Stand Up for What's Right and Just, an advocacy group for social justice.

Dale Wolf is that rare person who never seems to be perturbed. There might be a dark corner somewhere in Mr. Wolf's being, but we don't know anyone who has seen it. At 80, he seems to have the energy of someone half his age as he continues to be active on many fronts. And he does it all with a broad, ready smile.
