Vaughn, Superior Court The Justice Reinvestment Center is a project of the Council of State Governments and has worked with policymakers in states including Michigan, Nevada, and Texas to advance fiscally sound, data driven criminal justice policies. It is funded in part by the Pew Foundation and the Open Society Institute. Mr. Thompson will speak on national best practices in reducing state spending on corrections while promoting public safety. Local panelists will respond to the address, commenting on the potential for implementing best practices in Delaware. Lee (no charge): Using Social Media to Promote Primary Prevention of Violence Featured Speaker: David S. Lee, MPH David S. Lee, MPH, is the Director of Prevention Services at the California Coalition against Sexual Assault. Mr. Lee manages CALCASA’s statewide social marketing campaign, MyStrength, which targets teen men to take action to stop sexual violence, and also manages Prevention Connection, a national project to promote online discussion of prevention of violence against women. The project is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to advance public health. Mr. Lee also works with a variety of local sexual assault and domestic violence prevention agencies, focusing on prevention and the development of community responses to end violence against women. He has developed and provided training to educators, health care professionals, law enforcement, clergy, faith leaders, business leaders, social workers, therapists, welfare workers, substance abuse treatment providers, youth, men’s groups, and community organizations. Mr. Lee received his Masters in Public Health at the University of California-Berkeley. Registration form will be posted shortly. |
