SURJ OfficeExecutive DirectorJoanna Champney rejoins the SURJ staff as Executive Director, having begun her work with SURJ in 2004 while at the University of Delaware. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in political science, Joanna rejoined SURJ as a staff Research Assistant / Office Coordinator. Joanna went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania, where her research focused on vocational education in prisons and ex-offender reentry. She completed an internship with the Delaware Department of Corrections and worked in a law office specializing in criminal defense. At the University of Pennsylvania, she participated in statistical data analysis of re-offense rates of Philadelphia probationers charged with drug crimes. Joanna and her family are Wilmington residents. Jennifer Froemming joined the SURJ staff in February of 2009. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in Sociology and Criminal Justice in 2003. She went on do her Master's work in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she focused on female reentry, specifically mothering practices of women in the criminal justice system. In addition to overseeing office operations and providing research assistance, Jenny oversees volunteer efforts and coordinates student internships. |
